If govt not make it profitable, it cannot run well, and think those invester are mostly CPF invester buy big for passive income for retirement., they are in govt interest. I think govt will bear 70% of the cost.

If you are vested here, dont be cow by the recent shortcoming, it will soar in the future.

You must see over a long term basic, have u heard invester has short memory, look at starhub, i bought at 1.9 to 2.0..i only long blues, but i do sell together if mkt situation is real bad, and buy back later cheaper. I sold starhub once after the PL saga, in 2011.

If invester think really bad, it would have gone down long ago, i think the news is quite sometime old,right? , and the px is holding well.

Let say i bought at 1.68 today, and i dont mind to go super long term, and at say div of $57(previously i think it is $85 annually), i.e 3.4%. still better than FD.

And yrs from now, inflation , price can

 only go higher, salary, and of course, transport expense.

Cheongwee, thank you for your thoughts on SMRT. I see it quite differently. If you read today's COI report, SMRT has been told it must re-focus on being an engineering & train operator. In the past, there was a lot of emphasis on increasing revenue from rental of retail space and other commercial aspects. SMRT will see its profit growth soften and its cost rise from more spending on maintenance. This combination will lead to investors rating the stock lower. Dividend payouts are likely to go lower too. It's slow and sure decline for the stock. 

Even if at this 1.68. we buy and go long, if it really so worse that it pay only $57 annually as div, going forward,instead of the $85.it is still a good deal. do some calculation.

I dont think u can buy at 1.38, analyst call.

It is a no brainer.

SMRT...right nowanalyst call a sell, but u shd not, on the contrary, acc more. At this point of time, fund are parking their their money in so call safe haven paying a mere 1.6% that is way below inflation.

Now even if worse case, the yield of SMRT go down to 3%, it is still better than buying govt T-bill .

and last, this saga will come to pass, and SMRT is still SMRT, it is the one and only, can never go under., unless Singapore go under.

TT int.......On the 3/7 stock was push down becos of bad news, ppl see woes, but i see opportunity.
