FINANCIAL PR opened its office in Taiwan only in the second half of 2010 and has now won its first award -- and it's a major one.

FPR Taiwan clinched the Finance Industry Program Award at the 1st GLOBAL Chinese PR Award ceremony hosted on 5 Jan in Taiwan.

The award was organized by the Public Relations Association at Shangri-La Hotel, and was attended by over 150 people.

A total of 65 companies were nominated in 9 categories for the awards. Eventually, 26 winners were selected by a panel of 27 judges comprising chief editors, professionals, government policy makers, etc.

Not only FPR Taiwan won but also the FPR Singapore and its subsidiary, Aries Consulting in Hong Kong, and Blue Focus (which has a stake in FPR Group) in China won for the best overseas PR cases.

FPR Taiwan, which spearheaded Yangzijiang Shipbuilding's TDR project in 2010, showcased its Yangzijiang strategic investor relations program for the award competition.

After the big success of the Yangzijiang project, FPR Taiwan has undertaken 10 TDR projects and 1 IPO project.

It has also collaborated with top 8 Taiwanese investment banks including Yuanda, Fuban, Sinopac, Polaris. China Trust, and Cathay Securities.

FPR Taiwan First Representative, Ms Meeiyueh Ko, said: "It’s our great honor to be granted this award, and it is not just a award for FPR Taiwan but also means the financial industry has been noticed and respected besides the traditional PR industry. The media has given news coverage of FPR Taiwan winning the award."

FPR Group managing director Kathy Zhang said: "As far as I know, there was almost no such professional investor relations firm in Taiwan before FPR set up office in Taiwan. The IR Industry in Taiwan is still new compared with Singapore and HK. When most companies need PR/IR service during their IPOs, the underwriters are commissioned to take care of all the matters for free and with a lack of professionalism.

"When the FPR Group came into Taiwan, we made an impact. Investment bankers were surprised and now they are all aware of us and are happy to collaborate with us. With the back up of our Singapore and HK offices, and Blue Focus in China , we can and will do more and more better in Taiwan in 2012."
